How Did I Get Here?

I came to the world of website development by way of Google AdWords. When a business spends money – real money – driving visitors to their website, it changes the stakes. No longer is it just a matter of paying to have a website built and buying a hosting plan. Now the question becomes “did the $3, $5, $10 or more I spent to have someone look at my website result in a sale?”

Even if a business isn’t spending marketing dollars to drive visitors to their site, I am still acutely aware of the need to deliver information that converts to sales. I am constantly asking, “What information is the visitor looking for, and how can I deliver it to them as efficiently as possible?”

My approach may seem painfully obvious, however, many website designers get caught up in the bells and whistles and forget what the goal is. You are not interested in paying me to build a site that will make other web developers green with envy. Your goal is for me to build you a site that meets the needs of your visitors—your current or potential customers—who in turn will reward you by buying your goods or services.

Equipped with a BA degree in English, I became a website designer after building an extensive Google AdWords campaign for a small business. I knew I had to then create the website experience the ad was promising. That experience taught me that my true passion was not AdWords but Website design—specifically supporting small businesses.

If you have a website you’d like me to take a look at or an idea for one you’d like to create, give me a shout. I’d love to discuss the possibilities.
